From blood and ash (Trilogy) - Review

by Jennifer L. Armentrout

Time spent reading: 06.08.2021 - 06.14.2021 7 days

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)

I swallowed this book, that's not a joke. Just the fact that I read the first two books in only 2 DAYS, proves how intrigued I was. This trilogy has an amazing plot and is the hottest thing I've ever read.

This work of art has it all folks: "enemies to lovers", "Villan who's actually the Hero" and strong female power.

Penelophe (or poppy), our main gal, is one of the only protagonists I actually really like and admire. She reminds me a lot of Bryce Quinlan from "Crescent city" by Sarah J. Maas.

So I got into this not expecting much (maybe that's why it blew my mind), but I was met with an absurdly intriguing plot.

Basically, poppy was born to be offered to the gods, so she wears a veil and can never show her face, and she has guards on her at all times. That's where Hawk comes in, he gets the position to be one of her personal guards, and we all know what happens after that... NO WE DON'T because the plot completely changes and gets better every page.

With poppy being the maiden, with a lot of expectations made for herself by orders, you slowly understand what it is to be locked away from the world through her eyes.

It was literally the best day of my life when i learned the fact that this was a series. I finished the first book and the expectations where very high for the next one. And let me tell you, they where bypassed, the second book AND third are as good as the first one

Loved it, super recommend for people who like fantasy world and a lot of action scenes!

Update: the fourth book hadn’t been released yet when i wrote this, but you MUST read the prequel before reading that one. Armentrout released a book that tells the story of the gods who lived in that same land but years before. “The war of two queens” which is the fourth book, envolves the story of the prequel and gets in deeper into that plot. So you might also want to check out my “A Shadow in the Ember” review and read that one also.
